What is Sociology? What do you know about Sociology?

The word sociology is made up of two different words, sociology and logic. Socio is a Latin word meaning companion and logic is a Greek word meaning the science of society. Similarly, in Urdu, the word Imraniyat is a combination of Imran and Oriyat. Imran literally means population and Oriyat  belongs to the entire human population.

The French thinker August Conte is considered the founder of sociology because he set the subject apart from other social sciences. Earlier, Allama Ibn Khaldun, a well-known Muslim thinker, praised this knowledge. Subsequent thinkers benefited from the writings of Ibn Khaldun. Therefore, it would be appropriate to call Ibn Khaldun the founder of sociology.

what-is-sociology

Sociology studies society. After this definition, it is important to know what society is and how it can be defined.

It is a fact that society cannot be formed by a single individual but by many individuals. Society does not form automatically, but operates according to needs. Man's necessities of life are infinite and increase with time and he is not self-sufficient to meet all the necessities so he depends on others to meet the necessities of his life.

In his book Sociology, Nicholas S. Tema Chef and Fasi defined sociology in such a way that sociology is the study of people who depend on each other to meet the needs of social life through transactions and social relationships Is done. Social interaction can only take place through interaction which is called interaction in English. When people interact with each other while they are dependent on each other, whatever the outcome, the interest in studying sociologists increases.

Sociology does not study the individual, nor does it study its specific physical organs, but it does study the group life of individuals, but it is a condition that individuals interact with each other.

According to Agburn and Namkaf, sociology is the study of social life, group life and social character.

Other experts have defined architecture in this way. Ward says sociology is the science of society.

According to Fairchild, sociology is the study of the relationship between man and the human environment.

According to Ginsberg, sociology studies human relationships and their effects.

Kambal Young says that sociology discusses human behavior in a human group

Sociology studies collective behavior, says Park and Bridges.

According to George Small, sociology seeks to understand what conditions affect people and under what principles they operate and how individuals form groups and how mutual knowledge is involved.

Socran says that sociology is a general science that studies the basic forms, types and interrelationships of the socio-cultural environment.

According to McAuley, sociology seeks to find organization in the structure of society and to find out how the foundations of society develop in the environment, how the structure of society and the environment changes, and what forces influence them. Sets the direction of change.

According to WG Sumner, sociology is the science of society.

Alex Inkles writes that the study of poetry and disorder is called sociology.

Samuel Smith has called sociology a practical study of society. Like a pure science, sociology adopts a scientific method.

Difference between Theoritical and Applied Sociology

Theoretical sociology

Theoretical sociology discusses the principles and theories of sociology. It discusses the basic relations of sociology with definition, society, class, group, social organization, culture, and social training. It discusses the nature, benefits, importance, etc. of SABI institutions. It examines other protesters' social change, propaganda, and social seizure. Theoretical sociology only analyzes the factors that are found in society. It is like a study of society as it appears.

Applied sociology

Applied sociology is a practical expression of intellectual study. It is mostly related to social issues. Assessing any social problem helps to solve it and steps are needed to solve it. Applied sociology aims at human well-being. Some sociologists, including Nador, Gadon, Comet and Ward, have suggested that we apply theoretical study of society to social issues.

Scope of Sociology

Sociology studies society. The scope of society is very wide, so this subject of sociology is also increasing. In the words of Emile Durkheim, man began his life in a spherical form. Man has made new inventions of the gold of action by living in society and has taken new ways to live a better life. Where there have been successes in the gold and silver fields, there are also countless problems that have arisen and together they have become action. Such problems cannot be solved on the basis of ideas and wills, but can only be solved through social play.

Other sciences study a particular aspect of human life. In contrast, sociology studies human behavior and is deeply attached to it. Therefore, it is obvious that where there are human relations on both sides, the scope of sociology will also increase. Society is becoming more and more complex and problems in the social field are also becoming more complex. It is the duty of sociologists to find out the causes of problems in these situations. Riots and conflicts between individuals are not caused by a natural process, but there are certainly some causes. All human collective activities and disciplines have become a source of sugar for sociologists and should be of a scientific nature in which it is easy to avoid bias. It is important for sociologists to increase their knowledge of the relationship between human social life and with the help of this knowledge to gather facts about people's way of life and analyze themselves in a scientific way. There is a reason for the human character in different situations. Now the study of crime, revolution and war is done in the social context. Predicting human character through scientific analysis is a great subject.

The twentieth century has been a great revolution in history. It has changed every aspect of social life. New social relationships have been established and new social institutions have emerged. A new political system was devised to meet human needs and spiritual values were adopted.
