What is Biology?

The meaning of bios is life and the meaning of logos is the study of reflection. The conclusions that are drawn from observations and experiments to understand them are called science. The word biology is a combination of two Greek words.

Microbiology involves the study of viruses, bacteria, microscopic allergens, and fungi that cannot be seen without a lens or a microscope.

In the study of biology we can find answers too many questions as well as the following questions.

1. What are the living things on earth and what do they have to do with endangered species?

2. How to identify and group animals so that their similarities and differences become clear.

3. What is the anatomy of living things and how do they perform these different functions?

4. How are traits passed from generation to generation in living things?

5. How do living beings live as individuals or groups and how do they relate to their natural environment?

Biology is related to other scientific disciplines

Biology and other sciences were not initially discriminated against. The sciences of biology, chemistry, physics and arithmetic are found together in the writings of ancient scientists. All these sciences were given only the name of science but as the sciences increased. There will be a basis for dividing science into different branches. 

Because there are two major types of things in the universe. Animate and inanimate Therefore, in every natural science there is knowledge about living and non-living things. Therefore, biology is a science that includes the chemistry, physics, geography, economics and statistics of living things.

Biophysics

The branch of science that studies the application of the laws of physics to biological phenomena is called biophysics. For example, the creation of movements with the help of muscles and bones is bound by the principles of physics.

Biochemistry

The study of various biochemical found in living things and the study of hundreds of types of chemical processes in living things is called biochemistry.

Biogeography

Biogeography provides information on the finding of different species of plants and animals in different geographical areas of the world.

Bioeconomics

This science involves the study of living organisms from an economic point of view and the analysis of the cost and profitability of an animal-based industry from a commercial point of view. 

Methods of Study in Biology

Science is a regular and systematic knowledge. It is obtained by investigating the problems. In order to solve the problems, a special method is used to find out the answers to the relevant questions that come to mind. This is called scientific method. In this method, conclusions are drawn based on observations and experiments.

Observations

Malaria is a very ancient disease that has plagued mankind since pre-Christian times. In ancient times, when no cure was discovered, the disease killed a large number of people. Some historians attribute the disease to the decline of the Greek and Roman Empires.

In ancient times, since the cause of the disease was not known, people used many things as medicine, many of which proved to be ineffective and some were harmful. Scientists began searching for the cause of the disease. Initially, the disease was thought to be caused by foul air coming from the swamp, so some people volunteered to drink the swamp's water to see if it was the cause of the disease. If you take a microscopic examination of the blood, you will find small thread-like germs that were not present in the blood of healthy people, so the question arose as to whether these germs are the cause of malaria. Here are four key pointers in moving forward with malaria.

There is a link between malaria and swamps.

Quinine has been shown to be effective against malaria

Bacteria are found in the blood of malaria patients.

Drinking swamp water does not cause malaria.

Hypothesis

Observations alone are not enough to find a scientific solution to a problem, but on the basis of them ideas made that's called hypotheses. Scientists are developing more than one possible hypothesis and hope that one of them can be the right solution to this problem. This experimental proposal is scientifically tested. A good hypothesis should have the following qualities.

It should be closer to observational facts

This can be used to create diction.

Dictionaries can be tested through experiments

Whether the results are positive or negative, they can be repeated by other observers.

There are many possible causes for malaria. Here is a hypothesis that has been developed to find out the real cause.

Plasmodium is the cause of malaria
